The President of the Pakistan Business Forum (PBF), Khawaja Mehboob ur Rehman, has expressed enthusiasm over the recent commitment by Iran and Pakistan to strengthen their bilateral relations across multiple sectors. This resolve, aiming to amplify their trade volume to an impressive $10 billion, includes plans for establishing a special economic zone in Gabd, as outlined in signed memoranda of understanding.
President Rehman also lauded the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan, considering it a significant step towards fostering economic stability for both nations. He emphasized that this development marks another milestone in Pakistan’s efforts towards economic development, especially following recent high-profile delegations from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan.
Expressing optimism, President Rehman highlighted the potential of President Raisi’s visit to usher in a new era of cooperation on various bilateral issues, including trade, security, and regional stability. With deep-rooted ties between the two countries, he emphasized the shared objectives of peace and economic development.
Echoing these sentiments, PBF Vice President Chaudhry Ahmad Jawad underscored the focus of President Raisi’s visit on expanding collaboration in areas such as energy, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized the determination of both nations to unlock new opportunities for growth and prosperity, ultimately contributing to regional stability.
Jawad further emphasized the significance of the 900-kilometer border shared between Iran and Pakistan, suggesting a wide-ranging agenda to strengthen ties and enhance cooperation in diverse fields, including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and people-to-people contacts. Additionally, the PBF anticipates progress on the long-delayed Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline to further boost bilateral cooperation.
In a bid to foster closer ties, the PBF extended an invitation to the delegation of the Iran Chamber of Commerce Industries, Mines, and Agriculture to visit Pakistan and engage with the local business community.
