Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC), the assembler and manufacturer of Toyota-brand vehicles in Pakistan, has begun exporting select vehicles to other Toyota-affiliated companies.
This development was shared by the automaker in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.
“We are pleased to announce that Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC) has commenced exporting certain vehicles to other Toyota-affiliated companies,” the notice stated.
To mark this milestone, the company is organizing an export ceremony.
“This event not only demonstrates our commitment to expanding our business horizons but also highlights our dedication to enhancing Pakistan’s presence in the international market,” the notice added.
While this initiative represents a significant step, IMC noted that the financial benefits from this export activity are minimal at this initial stage.
“The impact on our overall business remains insignificant and immaterial,” the notice explained.
“Despite this, we are proud to take this pioneering step and lay the groundwork for future export opportunities from Pakistan,” it added.
In July of last year, IMC began exporting to Toyota Egypt and signed an agreement for this purpose.
“We have already sent our first shipment this month,” Chief Executive Ali Asghar Jamali said at the time.
The company also stated that the first consignment of semi-processed raw material shipped to Toyota Egypt marked “the beginning of a new era in exports by any original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in Pakistan, with plans to continue in this direction.”
