Government Pledges Export-Led Economic Growth

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving sustainable, export-driven economic growth during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Henny de Vries, in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Highlighting Pakistan’s economic reform agenda, the minister outlined strategies aimed at fostering fiscal sustainability and driving growth through exports. He emphasized the economic progress made over the past 14 months and reiterated the government’s focus on maintaining this trajectory.

Discussions also centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the Netherlands. Key areas identified for collaboration included mining, IT, oil and gas, agriculture, dairy, and farm production. The minister emphasized Pakistan’s interest in leveraging Dutch expertise for the transfer of advanced agricultural technology to boost productivity.

Aurangzeb also touched on Pakistan’s climate challenges and efforts to secure climate financing while building capacity for sustainable and resilient solutions.

Ambassador de Vries echoed the importance of deepening ties and expanding cooperation in various sectors, including sports. She noted that the Dutch cricket team is scheduled to visit Pakistan next year for matches, aiming to learn from Pakistan’s rich cricketing experience.

The ambassador lauded Pakistan’s structural reforms in key economic and financial sectors and reaffirmed the Netherlands’ support for enhancing Pakistan’s trade relations with the European Union.

The meeting underscored the mutual commitment to fostering economic ties and pursuing shared goals for sustainable development.
