Ghani Chemical Industries Limited (GCIL) announced on Thursday the successful launch of Pakistan’s largest Air Separation Unit (ASU) in the Hattar Special Economic Zone, located in Haripur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The new plant, which has a daily production capacity of 275 tons, is the company’s fifth state-of-the-art facility for producing industrial and medical gases.

In a statement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), GCIL, a prominent player in the production and distribution of medical and industrial gases and chemicals, highlighted that with this addition, the company now stands as a leading manufacturer in Pakistan’s industrial and medical gas sector.

GCIL had previously informed its stakeholders in December of plans to build the ASU plant, capable of producing liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon simultaneously. The company also announced plans to establish a calcium carbide production unit at the same location, which is expected to save millions in USD and contribute to foreign exchange earnings.

The company reported a profit of Rs303 million for Q1 FY25, up from Rs225 million during the same period the previous year, with earnings per share rising from Re0.46 to Re0.61. GCIL currently operates additional ASU facilities in Lahore and Karachi, each with a capacity of 410 tons per day.
