Cotton Market Sees Modest Trading Activity

LAHORE: The local cotton market experienced a bullish trend on Saturday, though trading volumes remained modest. Cotton Analyst Naseem Usman informed Business Recorder that cotton prices in Sindh ranged between Rs 17,300 to Rs 17,800 per maund, with Phutti prices between Rs 6,200 to Rs 7,200 per 40 kg.

In Punjab, cotton prices were between Rs 18,200 to Rs 18,600 per maund, while Phutti was priced between Rs 6,400 to Rs 8,200 per 40 kg. In Balochistan, cotton prices ranged from Rs 17,300 to Rs 17,500 per maund, and Phutti prices were between Rs 6,200 to Rs 7,400 per 40 kg.

Key transactions included the sale of 1,000 bales from Tando Adam at Rs 17,500 per maund, 1,000 bales from Sanghar at Rs 17,400 per maund, and 600 bales from Shahdad Pur, sold between Rs 17,400 to Rs 17,500 per maund. Additional sales included 200 bales from Nuabad at Rs 17,500 per maund, 200 bales each from Rasoolabad and Halani at Rs 17,800 per maund, and 400 bales each from Khadro and Shah Pur Chakar at Rs 17,500 per maund.

The spot rate remained steady at Rs 17,500 per maund, with polyester fiber available at Rs 365 per kg.
