KATI President Urges Immediate Government Relief for Industries

KARACHI: Johar Qandhari, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), has called on the government to provide urgent relief to industries. He criticized the government for imposing unnecessary taxes, which he argues are pushing industries toward closure and increasing unemployment rates.

“Unbearable tax burdens, coupled with the highest costs of electricity, gas, and interest rates, have forced many industries in Karachi to shut down,” Qandhari stated. He emphasized that industrialists are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain operations under these conditions, resulting in widespread closures.

Qandhari warned that the government’s misguided policies are leading to a surge in unemployment, which in turn could lead to increased lawlessness and public dissatisfaction with the authorities. He urged the government to adopt austerity measures and reduce its expenditures to ease the financial burden on industries and show solidarity with the struggling population.
