Faisal Yousaf, Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), announced the development of a cutting-edge satellite-based Crop Yield Prediction System aimed at enhancing crop productivity, mitigating risks, and optimizing resource allocation within the agricultural sector. Utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities, this system offers precise crop assessments across Punjab, drawing insights from vast datasets collected from numerous points across the province. Yousaf highlighted the system’s role in facilitating informed decision-making for farmers and policymakers, ultimately contributing to food security and rural development in Punjab.

Yousaf elaborated on PITB’s transformative initiatives, underscoring its pivotal role in driving technological innovation and governance excellence across various sectors. Discussing the ‘Nigehban Ramadan’ portal and app, designed to streamline the distribution of Ramadan relief packages, he emphasized its effectiveness in simplifying distribution processes for field officials and enhancing monitoring mechanisms for senior officers. With millions of eligible families benefiting from this initiative, Yousaf emphasized the importance of transparency ensured through QR code integration in Ramadan package distribution.

Yousaf also shed light on the Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control, and Communication (PPIC3) Centers, highlighting their role in leveraging advanced technology to preempt criminal activities and ensure urban safety effectively. Additionally, he discussed the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), operational in 51 tertiary hospitals, emphasizing its contribution to streamlining healthcare management and enhancing patient care. Furthermore, Yousaf emphasized the significance of the e-Challan app in transitioning from manual to electronic payment procedures for traffic violations, enhancing efficiency and transparency in traffic management while promoting safer roads and improved traffic flow through digitization.
