In a media briefing held at the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in Karachi, Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to fostering a conducive environment for trade and industry, as well as enhancing export diversification. Khan outlined measures aimed at bolstering both local and export-oriented industries, emphasizing the need for institutional reforms, energy solutions, and enhanced regional connectivity to ensure sustainable economic growth.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s proactive engagement with relevant ministries and stakeholders reflects the government’s commitment to addressing pressing issues hindering business and industrial progress in Pakistan. Khan disclosed the formation of high-level committees tasked with addressing energy pricing, governance reforms, and policy coherence, with a specific directive to expedite recommendations within a stipulated timeframe.
Highlighting recent achievements in export diversification, Khan pointed to successful initiatives such as the Food and Agriculture exhibition and TDAP’s ‘Pakistan Trade Portal,’ which have contributed to a significant surge in exports from the food and agriculture sectors. Anticipating a notable increase in export volume, Khan emphasized the importance of facilitating farmers and promoting value addition in agricultural products to further augment export earnings.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by key sectors like textiles, Khan underscored the government’s commitment to exploring viable solutions for their development.
