Khawaja Mehboob ur Rehman outlines comprehensive plan for national economic revitalization
In a press briefing held in Islamabad, President of the Pakistan Business Forum (PBF), Khawaja Mehboob ur Rehman, unveiled a strategic roadmap for national economic recovery. Stressing the government’s commitment to economic transformation, Rehman emphasized the ongoing efforts to implement structural reforms across various sectors.
Addressing the media, Rehman reiterated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s dedication to revolutionize the country’s economy, acknowledging his understanding of the challenges faced by the business community.
The National Economic Recovery plan, shared by Khawaja Mehboob ur Rehman, aims to generate income and livelihood opportunities for the populace through several key initiatives. These include ensuring financial stability, fostering revenue and fiscal sustainability, and reshaping the political economy towards economic justice and good governance.
Furthermore, the plan focuses on deficit reduction through inclusive growth strategies and efficient import-export management. It also advocates for transitioning to a green economy while ensuring social protection to minimize the adverse effects of structural reforms, particularly on vulnerable segments of society.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration between the federal government and provinces, Rehman underscored the need for streamlined decision-making processes to eliminate duplication and promote investment-friendly policies.
Echoing Rehman’s sentiments, Muhammad Naseer Malik, Chairman of PBF Punjab, emphasized the pivotal role of export-oriented Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in economic revitalization. Malik stressed the importance of removing administrative barriers and ensuring timely energy supply and competitive rates to facilitate industries.
He further emphasized the need for reducing the tax burden on industrialists and traders to spur economic growth, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder consultation to enhance the competitiveness of exportable goods.
Additionally, Pakistan Business Forum welcomed the commitment of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to safeguard the nation’s development and prosperity against external threats, affirming a collaborative effort between the armed forces and the nation to thwart any impediments to Pakistan’s progress.
